Mikke Leinonen (born January 14, 1992 in Lahti ) is a former Finnish Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Mikke Leinonen competed in the Nordic Combined B-World Cup, later renamed the Continental Cup , in 2007. His first point placement in this series of competitions was on February 19, 2011 in Kranj, Slovenia, with a 30th place. His best result so far in the Continental Cup was a third place he on 8 January 2012 at the Turkish Erzurum achieved and which also constitutes his only podium finish so far. He also took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships several times . His best result was a fifth place in the Gundersen competition on the normal hill with a subsequent cross-country skiing distance of five kilometers at the 2012 Junior World Ski Championships in Erzurum.

He made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup on March 11, 2011 in Lahti. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in the Italian Val di Fiemme , he was in the team competition together with Ilkka Herola , Janne Ryynänen and Eetu Vähäsöyrinki eighth. The first place in the points in an individual competition in the World Cup followed on January 4, 2014 with 29th place in Tchaikovsky, Russia . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Leinonen finished 40th (normal hill) and 42nd place (large hill).
