Linthouse is a district of the Scottish city of Glasgow . It is south of the River Clyde . Although Linthouse connects directly to the west of Govan and is often equated with Govan due to its proximity, it is a separate area. Nevertheless, within the city of Glasgow it is counted as part of the Greater Govan area.
Linthouse's best-known business was the Alexander Stephen and Sons shipyard , which among other things built a number of well-known vehicles for the Royal Navy .
The Linthouse parish of the Church of Scotland (Linthouse St. Kenneth) existed until November 2007 and was then merged with the neighboring parishes of Govan Old and New Govan to form New Govan and Linthouse Parish.
From 1881 to 1900 the football club FC Linthouse existed in the Scottish Football League .
In the "Tunnel Park" Linthouse, from which one looks down on the Clyde Tunnel, a regionally known Christmas market takes place every year.
