Linux Lite is a Linux distribution first released on October 26, 2012, derived from Ubuntu Linux and developed by a group led by Jerry Bezencon from Auckland, New Zealand.
The distribution is accompanied by a user forum.

Linux Lite is supposed to make it easy for users who previously mainly used Windows as their operating system to switch to Linux. Lite was developed for Linux beginners who want a slim but full-fledged desktop environment without functional restrictions.

Special features of Linux Lite
In order to help users to familiarize themselves with Linux, Linux Lite offers an introductory system (English "Welcome Center"), an English-language help file on the desktop (English "Help Manual") illustrated with many screenshots , a control center (English " Linux Lite Control Center “), with which many settings can be easily made, and a system menu that is similar to the Windows Start menu and can be opened with the Windows key or with a mouse click.
In the start menu, some applications are not only offered via the application name, but also partly via task-related menu items. The user does not necessarily have to know the program name, but can search for a menu item that describes what he would like to do, for example underMenu → Office → New Document or under Menu → Office → New Presentation.

Software installed by default
Linux Lite comes with a number of tried and tested application programs from the start, for example the LibreOffice Suite , Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird , the GIMP image processing program , a data backup program and the VLC media player and the Mousepad text editor (since Linux Lite 5.0). For system management, the Synaptic package management and the Gufw firewall program are preinstalled.
