Linux Lite is a Linux distribution first released on October 26, 2012, derived from Ubuntu Linux and developed by a group led by Jerry Bezencon from Auckland, New Zealand.

In order to help users to familiarize themselves with Linux, Linux Lite offers an introductory system (English "Welcome Center"), an English-language help file on the desktop (English "Help Manual") illustrated with many screenshots , a control center (English " Linux Lite Control Center “), with which many settings can be easily made, and a system menu that is similar to the Windows Start menu and can be opened with the Windows key or with a mouse click.

In the start menu, some applications are not only offered via the application name, but also partly via task-related menu items.
