The Linz ice rink , also known as Donauparkhalle or LINZ AG ice arena, is an ice rink in the Upper Austrian capital of Linz . The hall is the home of the ice hockey club EHC Black Wings Linz . Since 2014, it has held 4,863 spectators, around 1,000 of which are seated.
history
In 1986 the hall was built on behalf of the city of Linz, the costs amounted to the equivalent of 6.3 million euros. Your ice surface has a size of 60 × 30 m. For a long time, however, no major renovations took place.
In 2003 the Linz ice rink was expanded and rebuilt, with total costs of around 1.6 million euros. In time for the start of the ice hockey championship, two additional grandstands were completed, which were designed like balconies and offer a total of 136 seats. Due to various modernization and conversion measures, the capacity of the hall was increased from 3000 to almost 3800 in the following years.
In addition to the home games of the Black Wings, senior and U-20 internationals were also played in the stadium.
After the championship title in 2012, it was decided to expand the hall, in future it should accommodate up to 4,700 spectators. Ultimately, the capacity increased to 4,863 spectators.
