The Ifjabb Ocskay Gábor Jégcsarnok ( German Gábor Ocskay Junior ice rink ) is an ice rink in the Hungarian city of Székesfehérvár . It holds 3,500 spectators and is the home venue of the ice hockey club Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from the Austrian ice hockey league . The hall bears the name of a previous player from Alba Volán Székesfehérvár, Gábor Ocskay , who played for the club for 16 years. In 2009 he died of a heart attack at the age of 33 .
Usage history
After it opened in 1991, the Alba Volán Székesfehérvár ice hockey club moved from its previous home venue, the Székesfehérvár ice rink , to the new ice rink, which was created by roofing the old ice rink. Even after switching from the Hungarian Ice Hockey League to the Austrian Ice Hockey League , Alba Volán continues to play in the stadium. In addition, the Hungarian first division clubs Hevület Székesfehérvár , Fehérvári Jegesmedvék and Fehérvári Titánok play their home games in the Ifjabb Ocskay Gábor Jégcsarnok.
The ice rink was also the venue for the 1998 C World Championship , the Group B World Championship of Division I in 2002 and the Super Finals of the IIHF Continental Cup 2004/05 , 2005/06 and 2006/07 .
