Lionel Ferbos
Lionel Charles Ferbos (born July 17, 1911 in New Orleans , Louisiana , † July 19, 2014 there ) was an American trumpeter of New Orleans jazz .
Life
Lionel began playing the trumpet as a child, although he was slender in stature, and in addition to his main job as a metal worker, he performed professionally throughout his life; so he played in the formation Mighty Four with Harold Dejan . Ferbos was influenced by Fats Pichon and Captain John Handy . As a member of the jazz revival, he played in the New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra , appeared on the One Mo 'Time show and regularly performed at the Palm Court Jazz Cafe until his 1990s. Ferbos was considered to be the oldest active New Orleans jazz musician. When asked about the secret of his long career, Ferbos replied, "I practice hard and I still have all of my teeth".
