Liquid loft

Liquid Loft is an international performance group based in Vienna. It was founded in 2005 by the choreographer Chris Haring , together with the dancer Stephanie Cumming , the musician Andreas Berger and the dramaturge Thomas J. Jelinek .

Performances

Liquid Loft creates stage pieces and installations at the interface of contemporary dance and visual arts. The sound environment and the music composition are an integral part of the creation process. In 2007 Liquid Loft received the Golden Lion for the best performance at the Venice Biennale . for the piece "Posing Project B - The Art of Seduction". A source of inspiration for the stage plays is the examination of science fiction literature and cyborg theory. Liquid Loft's performances reflect, among other things, the change in our perception and body through visual media and the everyday use of technology. The choreography shifts perspectives, isolates gestural and linguistic patterns from familiar contexts and tries to integrate the unfamiliar view of the body into the movement. The specially created acoustic environments are intended to create spaces for thought and movement for dance and enable the dancers to find new, surprising possibilities for recombining their original elements.

Collaborations on various pieces, etc. a. with visual artists such as Erwin Wurm (Kind of Heroes), Aldo Giannotti (Posing Project, Winter Sun, etc.) and Günter Brus (Grace Note)

Installations

Together with the visual artist Michel Blazy, site-specific installations for the series "The Perfect Garden" a. a. in Hof Dietrichsruh Salzburg and in the Palmenhaus of the Vienna Burggarten. The installation Posing Project C - The Art of Garfunkel was shown in the Vienna Künstlerhaus.

Movies

Filmmaker Mara Mattuschka based four short films and one feature film on stage work by Liquid Loft, co-directed with Chris Haring: Legal Errorist (2004), Part Time Heroes (2007), Running Sushi (2008), Burning Palace (2009) and Perfect Garden (2010).
