Remarks
The listing of the mayors before 1823 comes from the town register of Detmold from 1635 to 1885 . In the case of overlapping periods before 1642, the first and last mention of mayor is given. The list is incomplete. At least from 1644 to 1835 Detmold had a first and second mayor. Up until the 19th century there was an annual change between the ruling council and the old council, which was, however, partially suspended.
