Ensembles

Ensemble old town Lichtenberg

The ensemble ( location ) includes the city of Lichtenberg within its medieval boundaries. The medieval town plan is determined by the wide, sickle-shaped curved street market, which climbs in an east-west direction from the former town gate to the castle hill. This street market has parallel streets, in the south the Brauhausstrasse, in the north Kirchgasse and Mittelstrasse, in between the parish church. The parallel lanes each lean directly against the rear buildings of the market plots, so that they only have one-sided main development. The city was originally walled and had a main gate at the entrance to the market and a secondary gate to the north. The town of Lichtenberg was probably created in the immediate vicinity of Lichtenberg Castle in the 13th century. The place occupies a spur that descends steeply on three sides, on the top of which the castle, which is now only in ruins, rose up to the fire of 1684. The development of the city goes back to the reconstruction after two fires, each of which fell victim to the northern (1814) and the southern half of the city (1869). It consists entirely of two-storey houses, mostly on the eaves. The closed street market, the northern row of houses from the period after 1814 and the southern row of houses from the period after 1869, was planted with linden trees in the 19th century, which have since been replaced by young trees. File number: E-4-75-146-1.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
