Ensembles

Marktplatz and lower market

The ensemble ( location ) encompasses the center of the market town on a spur that is upstream of the Eger floodplain . These include the market square, the ring-shaped alleys and the lower market leading down to the north to the Eger. The historical importance of the place mentioned for the first time in 1314 is closely connected with the crossing of the Eger. This strategic function increasingly affected the market town during the Hussite invasions of the 15th century, the Thirty Years' War and the Napoleonic Wars and led to its fortification. A separate judicial district of Marktleuthen was formed in 1613 within the "six-office land" of the Margraviate of Ansbach-Bayreuth. In 1791 the margraviate fell to the Kingdom of Prussia, and in 1810 to the Kingdom of Bavaria. In 1954 the market town was granted city rights. The ensemble is characterized by the development of the reconstruction after the last fire in the market area in 1843. The room edges of the market square and the building lines of the lower market, the arterial road that slopes slightly towards the Eger, form two-storey eaves side houses in closed development. The Obere Markt is an irregular square square with a slight slope to the west. It forms the core of the former agricultural town, which is laid out in a circle within a loop of the Eger that swings to the north. In the middle of the market square, at the highest point of the settlement, is the late Gothic parish church with a dome tower and the town hall, which was built in 1822 and later expanded, with a hipped roof and turret. This assembly is emphasized by formative tree planting. The surrounding houses in both market areas are mostly unadorned, with simple structures between the floors. The corner houses and endings of rows of buildings have half or full hips. The slate roofs with small standing dormers are important for the closed space and street spaces. Stronger, sometimes disruptive changes affect a number of ground floor zones and roof extensions. In the back, ring-shaped alleys on the slope of the Geländesporn, the largely open older buildings are still in place. File number: E-4-79-135-1.

Lower market

The arterial road branching off from the market ( location ), slightly sloping towards the Eger, mainly built with two-storey eaves summer houses from the time of the reconstruction after the market fire in 1843, at the end of each row a half-hip gable house from the time before the market fire (No. 11, 18). All buildings are unadorned, the slate roofs with small standing dormers are still partially preserved. Nos. 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 have changed due to modernization. File number: E-4-79-135-2.

Neudes town center

The regularly parceled out Angerdorf ( Lage ) was laid out between 1340 and 1368 by Albrecht Nothaft von Thierstein and belonged to the city of Wunsiedel from 1443 until the end of the old empire. On both sides of the almost rectangular Angers, which leads slightly downwards into the wooded hilly landscape, there are two-storey residential barns, mostly with half-hipped roofs. The houses are up to the inn No. 1 with the gable to the Anger. The development from around 1840 to 1940 embodies the house type common in the Fichtelgebirge with only a few deviations. The well-preserved area has two ponds, a communal house with milk pits, dance floor, fire extinguishing equipment and roof turret with clock as well as a separate garden area. File number: E-4-79-135-3.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
