The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The church and office building on the market square form the core of the village, which, first mentioned in 1130, was partially owned by the Kempten monastery in the late 13th century and completely in 1447. The rectangular shape of the square with gable fronts of houses especially from the 18th and 19th centuries. The regularity of the 19th century reveals the regularity of the monastery nurses, which was probably built after the local fires of 1560 and 1656. After another fire in 1804, the east side of the square was renewed. In contrast, the church and the office building represent the most original historical core in terms of structure and location (diverging building axes among each other and to the edge of the square). In the 15th century, the church was a fortified church with a mighty tower that gives the square its character, and a two-storey defensive wall with gate towers (laid down in 1805) - its borders are still preserved along the street and are an important part of the ensemble. The former princely lard scales (later Cordonhaus) and the Zehentstadel ("Heiligenspeicher", later town hall) were protected by the walls. Outside the former wall, south of the church, the administrative center of the Stiftkemptischen nurses, the office building, dominates the square, a stately three-storey saddle roof building from 1570. It was built in place of the Gredhaus (Kornhaus) built in 1455 and partially retained its function until 1868 . The free position on the square and a conspicuous cluster of inns (probably former breweries) reveal the original purpose. File number: E-7-77-154-1

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
