Large military orphanage The military orphanage was founded by Friedrich Wilhelm I as an education and training center for soldiers' children and military orphans. Half-timbered buildings were built from 1722 to 1724. From 1738 to 1742 an extension followed in Lindenstrasse. Friedrich II had the entire complex redesigned in massive construction between 1771 and 1777. A building ensemble in late baroque style was created based on designs by Carl von Gontard .

Barracks of the 1st Guard Uhlan Regiment On the property of a former inn, in whose buildings barracks for the 3rd Squadron of the 1st Guard Uhlan Regiment had been set up in 1821, a new barracks was built from 1834–1836 under the supervision of Wilhelm Kreyher, based on the design of the senior building councilor Johann Georg Carl Hampel. The main building, the residential barracks on Luisenplatz, originally covered with a hipped roof, was redesigned in 1847. According to the specifications of Frederick William IV. Made Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse designs, presumably on the planning of Friedrich August Stüler based. The residential barracks received a flat roof and the cantilevered cornice was replaced by a crenellated wreath. In 1836 the 3rd Squadron of the 1st Guard Uhlan Regiment moved into the new buildings. From 1889 to 1893 the barracks housed the 3rd Squadron of the Regiment of the Gardes du Corps and from 1894-1919 the Leib-Gendarmerie . Then the barracks became the property of the Potsdam magistrate, who housed the tax office in it. The main building that has been preserved has been used by a financial institute since 1945.
