List of electric locomotives on the Maurienne line
This list leads the locomotives on which for use on the 1925 partly to 1976 with power from the third rail equipped Maurienne route on the French side of the Mont Cenis rail were used.
Electrification of the Maurienne line
In 1921, the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM) decided to electrify the Chambéry - Modane section with 1500 V direct current , which was to serve as a trial operation for a later electrification of the Marseille - Nice line . In 1925 the electrical operation could be started on the section Chambéry - St-Pierre d'Albigny , 1929 to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and 1930 to the Italian border station Modane. The locomotives obtained their energy on the open route from a busbar arranged on the side , a simple contact line was only used in the stations . Only the Modane station was electrified with a conductor rail because it was already equipped with the double-pole catenary for the 3600 V three-phase operation of the Italian state railway . In 1933 the remaining part of the Maurienne line from Culoz to Chambéry was spanned with catenary. The conductor rail operation was maintained until 1973, after which the changeover to continuous contact line operation began. The dismantling of the third rail was completed in 1976.
PLM test locomotives
In 1922, the PLM ordered four test locomotives, which were tested between 1925 and 1928 on the Chambéry – St-Pierre d'Albigny section and were taken into regular service except for the 242 CE .

SNCF locomotives
With the increase in traffic between France and Italy after World War II, the SNCF had to increase the number of locomotives that could run on the Maurienne line. The number of locomotives relates to those actually used on the route.
