The electric locomotives 161 BE of the Compagnie du chemin de fer Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée , later 1ABBA1 3600 of the SNCF , were freight locomotives for 1500 V direct current . The locomotives were assigned to the Chambéry depot and were used on the north ramp of the Mont-Cenis railway before being scrapped in 1973.
history
The locomotives were ordered for use on the Maurienne route shortly after the 161 AE 1 had been tested . In contrast to the test locomotive, the 161 BE have a different gear ratio and the drive gears are unsprung. The top speed is therefore only 80 km / h compared to the 110 km / h of the 161 AE. The locomotive developed by the Société d'étude pour l'électrification des Chemins de Fer (ECF) was very similar to the boxcab locomotives built in North America at the same time .
technology
The two halves of the double locomotive lie on two close -coupled bogies so that the locomotive bodies do not absorb any tensile or compressive forces. The two inner bogies have two driving axles , the outer ones have one driving axle and one running axle with a smaller diameter. The drive takes place via paw-bearing motors . The starting resistors are controlled by individual electro-pneumatic contactors , the grouping of the motors by cam switches .
