history

Bernard II, Count of Comminges († 1153), founded the Abbey L'Oraison-Dieu (Adoration of God) 25 kilometers southwest of Toulouse in Saint-Hilaire. It was settled by the Cistercian Abbey of Fabas . When the monastery was destroyed by vagabond mercenaries in 1442, the nuns went to Muret. Their remaining property was taken over by the Eaunes Monastery . In 1641 the Cistercian sisters built a new monastery in Muret. In 1761 the remaining nuns were incorporated into the Salenques Abbey . The abbess house, which has been in use since 1311, still stands (with half-timbering) in rue Clément Ader in Muret.
