László Bárczay achieved 11 points from 12 games in his only participation in a Chess Olympiad in 1966 .

The list of International Masters of 1966 lists all chess players who received the title of International Masters in 1966 from the World Chess Federation FIDE .

In June 2017, Heinz Liebert and Lchamsürengiin Mjagmarsüren , two of the eight honored players at the time, are still alive. Two of the eight players later reached the grandmaster title .

Legend

The table contains the following information:

  • Name : gives the name of the player.
  • Country : The country for which the player was eligible to play in 1966.
  • Life data : states the year of birth and, if applicable, the year of death of the player.
  • GM : Indicates the year of award for players who were later promoted to grandmasters.
  • Other associations : For players who were sooner or later eligible to play for at least one other association, this indicates these associations with the periods of eligibility to play (if known). Association changes due to German reunification are not listed, other changes to a successor state are taken into account, provided the player was still active in chess at that time.
