Trichomonadidae ( old Gr . Θρίξ thríx (Gen. Sg. Τριχός trichós) 'hair', μόνας mónas 'unit') are a family of the Parabasalia . The unicellular organisms have an oval cell body, three to five front flagella and a drag flagellum with an undulating membrane. They do not have mitochondria for energy production, but hydrogenosomes . The propagation takes place by simple longitudinal division.
