The list of International Masters of 1963 lists all chess players who received the title of International Masters in 1963 from the World Chess Federation FIDE .

In December 2018, Rajko Bogdanović , Florin Gheorghiu , Nikolai Krogius and Oscar Quiñones Carrillo were four of the 18 players who were honored at the time. Eight of the 18 players later achieved the title of grandmaster , one player was later awarded the title of honorary grandmaster .

Legend

The table contains the following information:

  • Name : gives the name of the player.
  • Country : Name of the country for which the player was eligible to play in 1963.
  • Life data : states the year of birth and, if applicable, the year of death of the player.
  • GM : Indicates the year of award for players who were later promoted to grandmasters.
  • HGM : Indicates the year of the award for players who were later made Honorary Grand Masters.
  • Other associations : For players who were sooner or later eligible to play for at least one other association, this indicates these associations with the periods of eligibility to play (if known). Changes to a successor state are only taken into account if the player was still active in chess at the time.
