Vahtraste is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the third largest Estonian island of Muhu . It belongs to the rural community of the same name ( Muhu vald ) in the Saare district ( Saare maakond ).

The place has twenty inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located directly on the Baltic Sea .

There are two beacons with a height of 40 and 25 meters near the village center . They provide orientation for the boat route between the islands of Kõverlaid and Kumari laid .
