The Baltic Sea at Kallaste

Kallaste is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the third largest Estonian island of Muhu . It belongs to the rural community of the same name ( Muhu vald ) in the Saare district ( Saare maakond ).

Population and location

The place has 65 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located on the north coast of the island of Muhu.

At the center of the village is the 300 meter long Klint von Üügu ( Üügu pank ), which offers a wide view over the Baltic Sea . The steep bank is up to 5.5 meters high. The area with its boggy subsoil has been a landscape protection area with an area of ​​ten hectares since 1959.
