The fountain was built on the occasion of the opening of the Albertine aqueduct .

		Robert Hamerling - memorial stone ID: 71219	monument	Hamerlingplatz location	Stephan Kamenyeczky	1982	Low stone pillar with a smooth base plate. Originally there was a monument to the poet created by Hans Scherpe in 1908 on Hamerlingplatz . It was removed and not rebuilt during WWII. In the early 1980s, Hamerlingplatz was redesigned and the memorial stele was erected in place of the memorial.
