The list of menhirs in Bavaria includes all known menhirs in what is now the state of Bavaria .

List of menhirs

  • Menhir : Names the name of the menhir as well as common alternative names
  • Location : Names the municipality and, if applicable, the district in which the menhir is located.
  • District : Name the district to which the municipality belongs. ER: Erlangen ; FRG: Freyung-Grafenau district ; HO: District of Hof ; NEA: District Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim
  • Type : Differentiation between different sub-types:
    • decorated menhir : a single standing, decorated stone not connected to a grave
    • Grooved stone : an erect stone with grooved decoration
    • Stone circle : a group of upright stones arranged in a circle
    • Stone row : a group of erect stones with a linear arrangement
    • Monolith : other stone with a menhir character
