Erna Kisch was born in Freiberg on June 19, 1888 as the daughter of the textile merchant Hermann Hirsch Spiro and his wife Flora. In March 1900, her parents moved with her to Berlin. In 1912 she married the Czech businessman Alfons Kisch in Prague, with whom she had a son. The marriage ended in divorce after a few years; Father and son moved to Spain. Erna Kisch led an unsteady life in Hamburg. Although she was baptized in 1939, the Gestapo took her to "protective custody" in the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp near Hamburg. On October 25, 1941, she was deported to the Lodz ghetto and on May 10, 1942 to the Kulmhof (Chelmno) extermination camp, where she was presumably gassed on the same day. A stumbling block was also laid for Erna Kisch in Hamburg-Hamm .
