List of Brazilian Finance Ministers
The list of Brazilian finance ministers is a partial list and contains all ministers of the Ministério da Fazenda (Ministry of Finance) of the South American state of Brazil from 1964 to 1985 at the time of the military dictatorship and since 1985 after the end of the military dictatorship and the beginning of the New and Sixth Republic.
The Ministry of Finance is now based in the capital Brasília , previously in the former capital Rio de Janeiro .
history
Today's Ministry of Finance emerged from the office of the Ministro e Secretário de Estado dos Negócios do Brasil e da Fazenda e Presidente do Real Erário (short: Royal Treasury) after the relocation of the Portuguese court in 1807 under João VI . It lasted until 1821 and the incumbent of the Brazilian Empire was then known as the Ministro e Secretário dos Negócios da Fazenda e Presidente do Tesouro Público . From 1831 until the proclamation of the Republic of Brazil , he was known as the Ministro e Secretário de Estado dos Negócios da Fazenda e Presidente do Tribunal do Tesouro Público Nacional , from 1891 to 1893 he was the Ministro e Secretário de Estado dos Negócios da Fazenda e Presidente do Tribunal do Tesouro Nacional , from 1893 to 1967 as Ministro de Estado dos Negócios da Fazenda . From 1967 (beginning of the military dictatorship) to 1990 the official was called, in simplified terms, Minister of State for Finance . The official titles changed in the meantime to Ministro da Economia, Fazenda e Planejamento (1990-1991), again to Ministro da Fazenda from 1992, the name still valid today.
