| Feb 21, 1964 | Henri Guissou | Henri Guissou was born in Wagudugu, the capital of today's Republic of Upper Volta, in 1910. After attending school in his home country, he went to the well-known William-Ponty teacher training college in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, where he took his final exam in July 1935. From 1935 to 1946 he worked as an official in the French colonial administration in the finance and accounting department. In 1947 he became a member of the Ivory Coast Council. On March 31, 1948, the Upper Volta territory was restored. In the same year, Henri Guissou became a member of the Upper Voltaic Assembly (Assemblée Representative, which from 1952 onwards was called the Territorial Assembly).
