According to a West Styrian legend, it is said to be an enchanted woman. The origin is unclear, it could be a gravestone or boundary stone from the Middle Ages, or a Celtic cult stone.

The stone was placed under monument protection through an initiative of the mountain and nature watch pack, restored in 2003 and rebuilt about 100 meters from its original location on the hiking trail.
