Coin and small finds on the local mountain of Sommerau indicate a late antique military installation of the type of a signal or watchtower, which was built over with a castle in the Middle Ages. The oldest medieval finds go back to the second half of the 13th century, the main finds in the 14th to 15th centuries. Of the castle, only the ramparts (earthworks) can be seen in the area.
