description
Together with Hong Kong and Guangzhou, the boom town of Shenzhen forms a mega-metropolis with over 40 million inhabitants on the Pearl River Delta . Shenzhen currently has 146 skyscrapers of which 75 are over 200 meters and 11 are over 300 meters ( Supertall ). There are also 48 other skyscrapers under construction. Thus, Shenzhen is currently the city with the world's largest construction activity for high-rise buildings and in 6th place in terms of the number of completed buildings over 150 meters . The first super-high skyscraper was built in 1996 and was Shun Hing Square which, at 384 meters, was the tallest building in China for a few monthsand even surpassed the Empire State Building in terms of structural height . At 442 meters , the KK100 , built in 2011, has the same structural height as the 40-year-old Willis Tower . Today's tallest building in the city is the Pingan International Finance Center, which opened in 2017 with a height of 599 meters and 115 storeys. This will not be the case for long, because there are currently around 10 skyscrapers over 600 meters ( Gigatall ) in planning. The highest of these is the Logistic City at 1111 meters.
