Under handicrafts refers to methods of various branches of the textile industry , the laymen in the home with simple tools or simple machines can run. Working materials for this are textiles of various types, such as yarns and fabrics .

The group of handicrafts called needlework originally included techniques that were practiced with needles of various shapes.

Needlework was a synonym for handicrafts for girls or textile works . The basics of these techniques were taught in this school subject. The legal term “ needle money ” is derived from needlework that was typical of women for a long time .
