Rob Valicevic (born January 6, 1971 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a former American ice hockey player who played for the Nashville Predators , Los Angeles Kings , Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League , among others . From 2005 to 2007 he was active for ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Valicevic began his career in 1991 in the team at Lake Superior State University , with whom he played in the US college league Central Collegiate Hockey Association . There he immediately belonged to the regular squad and won the championship with Lake Superior Lakers in 1992 . During the NHL Entry Draft 1991 he was selected by the New York Islanders in the sixth round at a total of 114th position. The left shooter finished his studies and then moved in the summer of 1995 to the American Hockey League for the Springfield Falcons , the then farm team of the Hartford Whalers and the Winnipeg Jets , for which he only completed two games. Valicevic was at this time mostly in the squad of the Louisiana Ice Gators from the East Coast Hockey League .
Another career station in the following years were the Houston Eros , with whom he won the Turner Cup in 1999. In the same year, the 1.85 m tall and 89 kg striker also completed his first 19 appearances in the NHL for the Nashville Predators. The then 28-year-old was able to convince those responsible and from then on belonged to the Predators squad. After another two years, in which he wore the Predators jersey 140 times and was able to achieve 29 scorer points, he joined the Los Angeles Kings as a free agent . There he was mainly used in their farm team, the Manchester Monarchs .
For the 2002/03 season he signed a one-year contract with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and only a year later changed clubs again and joined the Dallas Stars. During the NHL lockout of the 2004/05 season Valicevic played in the Finnish SM-liiga for TPS Turku and in the United Hockey League for the Flint Generals .
After Valicevic finally made hardly any chances of a renewed engagement in the NHL, he forced a move to Europe in 2005. There the management of ERC Ingolstadt from the DEL noticed him and transferred him to Germany. In Ingolstadt he performed well, but his contract was not extended at the end of the 2006/07 season. He scored 77 points in 103 DEL games for the Panthers and was one of the most successful scorers on the team.
Rob Valicevic ended his active ice hockey career at the age of 37 in the Austrian Bundesliga with Klagenfurt AC .
