Ryan G. Bayda (born December 9, 1980 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 194 games for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League and 227 games for the Nürnberg Ice during his active career between 1998 and 2016 Tigers , Augsburger Panther and Straubing Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

After he had played successfully in his youth in the US college league , he was selected during the 2000 NHL Entry Draft as the 80th player in the third round of the Carolina Hurricanes . During the 2001/02 season he ran for the first time for the farm team of the Hurricanes, the Lowell Lock Monsters in the American Hockey League . He made his NHL debut for Carolina during the 2002–03 season .

On July 3, 2007, the Hurricanes Baydas extended the contract for one year. On July 1, 2008, his expiring contract was extended for another year. Apart from the 2005/06 season Bayda played from 2001 to 2009 for the organization of the Carolina Hurricanes and was used in 194 games (18 goals, 26 assists), mostly in the third or fourth attack row, in the NHL.

After a training camp before the 2009/10 season , he was committed by the Pittsburgh Penguins with good prospects for NHL missions, but played, after the short-term commitment of Chris Bourque at the beginning of the season, only in the farm team for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the AHL. Although he received an offer from the Penguins for the following season - but without a guarantee for NHL missions (two-way contract) - he switched to the German ice hockey league with the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers from Nuremberg . Here, his one-year contract was extended for two more years after the 2010/11 season .

From the 2013/14 season , Ryan Bayda played for 2 years with league rivals Augsburger Panther , but only played 6 games (4 goals, 2 assists) due to an elbow injury in the 2014/15 season .

In the spring of 2015 he and Mike Connolly moved from the Panthers to the Straubing Tigers , where he met again the trainer Larry Mitchell , who was dismissed in Augsburg in December 2014 . Bayda and the Lower Bavaria parted company after the 2015/16 season . Bayda retired in the summer of 2016 and returned to his hometown of Saskatoon to open a tattoo removal business.
