List of trade unions in Austria
The 7 sub-unions (as of autumn 2011) of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB) are:
- Construction Wood Union (GBH)
- Union of Community Employees , Arts, Media, Sports and Liberal Professions (Younion (since 2015) - formerly GDG-KMSfB)
- Public Service Union (GÖD)
- Post and Telecommunications Union (GPF)
- PRO-GE union (production union )
- Union of Private Employees, Printing, Journalism, Paper (GPA-DJP)
- Union vida (transport and services union )
Recent restructuring:
- The metal-textile (GMT) and agricultural-food-enjoyment (GANG) trade unions merged on May 9, 2006 to form the new metal-textile-food trade union
- The unions of railway workers (GdE), trade, transport, traffic (HTV) and hotel, hospitality, personal service (HGPD) announced on April 13, 2006 at a joint press conference the establishment of a joint transport and service union ; vida represents around 150,000 members
- The private workers unions (GPA) and printing, journalism, paper (DJP) merged in 2007 to form the GPA-DJP; this was at the time and is still the strongest branch union.
- In June 2009 the union of community workers (GdG) merged with the union for art, media, sport, liberal professions (KMSfB) to form GdG-KMSfB; This represents over 150,000 members in the sectors of service, salary and pension law
- In the autumn of the same year, the Metal-Textile-Food (GMTN) union, founded in 2006, and the chemical workers' union (GdC) merged to form the PRO-GE union .
- infra - The alliance of the infrastructure unions (GdG, KMSfB, GBH, GPF, HGPD, HTV and GdE) of the early 2000s has largely lost its importance due to the restructuring of 2007-2009
