April 10, 1995 Pfänder tunnel , Bregenz Austria 3 A mass collision started a fire.
February 10, 1996 Toyohama Tunnel at Yoichi , Hokkaido Japan 20th A boulder weighing 50,000 tons fell on a tunnel tube.
March 18, 1996 Tunnel near Palermo Italy 5 26th A tanker truck exploded after a rear-end collision.
March 24, 1999 Montblanc tunnel France, Italy 39 A truck loaded with flour and margarine caught fire. The cause of the fire was a glowing cigarette butt. The fire spread to other vehicles. The fire was only under control after 24 hours.
May 29, 1999 Tauern tunnel Austria 12 After a vehicle collision, a truck loaded with paints caught fire. There was an explosion. The fire was only brought under control after 16 hours.
April 12, 2001 Helbersberg tunnel Austria 2 10 Rear-end collision with the following pile-up.
August 6, 2001 Gleinalm tunnel Austria 5 A fire broke out after a minivan collided with a car.
August 8, 2001 Amberg tunnel Austria 3 Collision of a pickup truck with a coach.

October 24, 2001 Gotthard tunnel Switzerland 11 Head-on collision between two trucks in front of the tunnel portal. A fire followed.
June 7, 2003 Road tunnel near Venice Italy 6th A double-decker bus scratched the tunnel wall and overturned.
August 6, 2003 Gotthard tunnel Switzerland 1 4th Head-on collision of a truck with a car on the opposite side.
April 14, 2004 Baregg tunnel Switzerland 1 5 300 meters from the tunnel exit, a truck crashed unbraked into stationary vehicles that had stopped due to a rear-end collision. The fire broke out.
June 4, 2005 Fréjus tunnel France, Italy 2 A truck loaded with tires catches fire. A total of three heavy trucks burn out.
August 17, 2005 Roppen tunnel Austria 1 A minibus got into the opposite lane and collided with a car.
August 20, 2005 Isla Bella tunnel Switzerland 1 2 Two cars brushed against each other, one car ran into the opposite lane and crashed into a bus.
December 25, 2005 Mauernried tunnel Germany 5 In the Mauernried tunnel, a car collides with the tunnel wall and is thrown into oncoming traffic.
September 23, 2006 Viamala tunnel Switzerland 9 A bus collided with a car in the Viamala tunnel. A fire broke out.
March 13, 2012 Sierre tunnel Switzerland 28 24 Bus accident in the Sierre tunnel . Impact against a tunnel wall.

December 20, 1984 Summit tunnel United Kingdom A train carrying dangerous goods caught fire.
November 18, 1996 Eurotunnel United Kingdom, France 0 30th A truck on a freight train caught fire. After five hours the fire was under control. Train passengers suffered severe smoking injuries.
March 2, 1999 Railway tunnel near Göttingen Germany 0 0 A railroad car loaded with pulp and paper caught fire. The fire was extinguished after twelve hours.
September 11, 2008 Eurotunnel United Kingdom, France Fires with temperatures up to 1000 ° C.
