Lithium selenide , Li 2 Se, is a chemical compound of lithium from the selenide group .
Extraction
Lithium selenide can be obtained by reacting selenium with lithium . The reaction takes place in liquid ammonia . After the ammonia has evaporated, the red-brown lithium selenide remains.
properties
Dilithium selenide crystallizes in a cubic crystal system . Like the other lithium chalcogenides, it has the space group Fm 3 m (space group no. 225) .
toxicology
If taken orally or inhaled, lithium selenide is toxic. With prolonged or repeated exposure, it causes damage to organs.
