Littlestown is a municipality in Adams County in the state of Pennsylvania in the eastern United States of America . The population according to the 2010 Census was 4,434.
Littlestown was laid out in 1760 by Peter Klein under the name "Petersburg". German settlers called it "Small Town" until it was officially renamed to the English version "Littlestown" in 1795.

According to a survey by the United States Census Bureau , Littlestown has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.1 km²) and has no bodies of water within its boundaries. Littlestown is surrounded to the north, west and south by Germantownship.
The cities of Gettysburg , Hanover and Westminster are in the vicinity .

According to the 2000 Census , the total population in the borough was 3,947 people in 1,586 households and 1,113 families lived in the borough. The population density was 2,517 people per square mile (970.7 / km²). 97.3% of the population were white. Children under the age of 18 lived in 35.9% of households. 53.3% of the households were made up of married families, 12.7% were single mothers and 29.8% were non-family households.
The age structure in Littlestown was broken down as follows: 27.7% of the population were younger than 18 years, 7.6% were between 18 and 24 years old, 32.1% were between 25 and 44 years old, 18.5% were between 45 and 64 years old and 14.1% of the population were over 65 years old. This resulted in an average age of 34 years. For every 100 women there were 90.5 men.
The median household income in 2000 was $ 36,678 and the median family income was $ 42,261.
