Liu Chongjie

Liu Chongjie ( Chinese  劉崇傑 , Pinyin Liú Chóngjié ; * 1880 in Fuzhou , Chinese Empire ; † 20th century ) was a Chinese diplomat .

Life

Until 1906 he studied political science and economics at Waseda University in Tokyo. In Fuzhou , he was employed by the school board. In 1910 he got his first job as an interpreter in the Foreign Office. After the establishment of the Republic of China, he became First Class Counselor in Tokyo. He then became consul in Jokohama.

From 1916 to 1917 he was managing director in Tokyo. In 1917 he became a lecturer in the Foreign Office. In 1919 he was sent as an expert to negotiate the Versailles Peace Treaty . He was initially a diplomat in Japan and southern Europe, from 1920 to 1926 he was envoy extraordinary and Ministre plénipotentiaire in Madrid and was also accredited in Lisbon. In 1932 he was an advisor to Liang Qichao . From 1933 to 1935 he was with his official seat in Berlin, accredited there and in Vienna as envoy. From 1935 to 1937 he was envoy in Vienna . From 1938 to 1945 he was a private citizen in Shanghai . He spoke Japanese, French and English and is an honorary citizen of Frankfurt am Main .
