Liu Hongyang ( Chinese  刘洪洋 , Pinyin Liú Hóngyáng ); is a diplomat from the People's Republic of China .

Career

Liu earned bachelor's degrees in literature and law from Beijing Foreign Language University and China Foreign Affairs University .

Liu has held various posts at the Chinese embassies in Ethiopia and Singapore and at the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations . He also served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Consular Affairs Office and International Organizations and Conferences Office, and in the government of Yinchuan City ( Ningxia Province ).

From 2005 to 2009, Liu was an advisor in the International Organizations and Conferences Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. This was followed by a post as Minister-Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Germany until 2013 . From 2013 to 2015, Liu was Envoy Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia .

On August 14, 2015, he was appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to East Timor . He succeeded Tian Guangfeng , who held the office for more than three years. On July 14, 2015, he presented his accreditation to East Timor’s President Taur Matan Ruak . In 2018, Liu was replaced by Xiao Jianguo .

Private

Liu is married and has one daughter.
