Livia Kubach (* 1966 in Bad Münster am Stein ) and Michael Kropp (* 1960 in Cologne ) are a German sculptor couple. They live and work together in Bad Münster am Stein.

life and work

Livia Kubach, daughter of the sculptor couple Kubach-Wilmsen , who are known for their book sculptures , studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Tony Cragg and in 1995 became a master student of Günther Uecker . Her husband Michael Kropp studied education in Cologne, is a musician and autodidact as a sculptor and "highly talented practitioner." Kubach & Kropp dedicate themselves to stone as their main material, especially gabro and granite from different regions of the world. Instead of material and mass, in addition to surface structures and color, emptiness, light and shadow are increasingly becoming defining design elements. Different types of stone are combined, different parts are connected to each other by drilling cores. The stone sculptures live from light: the change of position of the observer or the light source permanently changes the works.
