Liwang ( Nepali लिवाङ ) is a city ( municipality ) in the Rolpa district in western Nepal .
Liwang lies above the river valley of a left tributary of the Rapti at an altitude of 1310 m . Liwang is the seat of the district administration. A road leads in a south-easterly direction to Mijhing and further into the lower Rapti river valley. The small airfield Rolpa Airport is 12 km east of Liwang as the crow flies.
The city of Liwang was created at the end of 2014 through the merger of the two Village Development Committees (VDCs) Liwang and Khumel . The urban area covers 75.9 km².
Residents
In 2001, Liwang had 8,425 residents. At the 2011 census, the population was 10,417.
Including Khumel , the population in 2011 was 13,477 (6170 male) in 3255 households.
