history

Dubring was mentioned in a document in 1308 as Dubrinc . The place name comes from the Sorbian word dub for "oak" and means something like "oak forest". Over time, the name of changed Doberingk (1486) on Dobryngk (1518) and Dubrängk (1600) to today's Dubring in 1768. In 1936, the place was during the Nazi Germanization sorbischstämmiger place names in Oak Grove renamed; this designation was reversed in 1947.

The original chapel in Dubring was renovated in 1964 and demolished in 1983. The year of construction of the chapel is unknown, but the simple design suggests a very old building. As early as May 1, 1946, the canteen in the nearby quarry was set up as a chapel, but this building was also demolished in 1985. In 1983 construction work began on a new chapel, and the new chapel was consecrated on May 24, 1985 . The 25th anniversary of the consecration was celebrated on May 27, 2010, for which the chapel had previously been fundamentally renovated.

After the Congress of Vienna , Dubring came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . There the place was until July 8, 1945 in the administrative district of Liegnitz . The community was assigned to the newly formed Hoyerswerda district in the Cottbus district on July 25, 1952 . After reunification , Dubring was in the Hoyerswerda district in Saxony . On January 1, 1994 Dubring was incorporated into Wittichenau . From January 1, 1996 to July 31, 2008 Dubring was in the district of Kamenz , since the Saxon district reform of August 1, 2008 , the place has been in the district of Bautzen .

population

For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 124 inhabitants in 1884, all of whom were Sorbs . In 1956 Ernst Tschernik counted a Sorbian-speaking population of only 32.1%.

Dubring is part of the Catholic Upper Sorbian core settlement area and belongs to the Wittichenau parish .
