history
Neudorf was mentioned in a document in 1248 in the founding letter of the St. Marienstern monastery as nova villa juxta Witigennowe . The place name then changed from Nuwendorf in 1382 via Nawindorff by Witchenaw in 1433 to Klösterlich Neuendorf in 1925. The addition "Klösterlich" serves to distinguish it from Burgneudorf ("Königlich-Neudorf").
After the Congress of Vienna Neudorf came to the Kingdom of Prussia . On July 1, 1950, the place was incorporated into Wittichenau. As part of Wittichenau, Neudorf was assigned to the Hoyerswerda district on July 25, 1952 , and after the reunification it was in the Hoyerswerda district in Saxony . From January 1, 1996 to July 31, 2008 Neudorf was in the district of Kamenz , since August 1, 2008 the place has been in the district of Bautzen .
