Pilot film

In August 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Sunday school teacher Lizzie Borden found the body of her father Andrew, who was brutally killed with a hatchet, and the body of Abby Borden, Lizzie's stepmother and older sister Emma. Moving on, the evidence seems to point to Lizzie as the prime suspect. Her lawyer, Andrew Jennings, claims that a woman could not commit such a cruel crime. Even so, Lizzie is being tried for the murders, and the case makes headlines in newspapers across the country calling him the most notorious of the century.

In 1893, four months after Lizzie Borden's acquittal for the murders of her father and stepmother, she and her sister Emma attempt a new life despite financial troubles and Lizzie's ruined reputation. Meanwhile, Detective Charlie Siringo arrives at Fall River to reopen the case.
