Ljepunice ( Cyrillic Љепунице ) is a place in the canton of Tuzla in the northeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina , and is a local association ( Mjesna zajednica ) and village ( Naseljeno mjesto ) of the municipality of Tuzla .
geography
The place was part of solos in the Middle Ages . Before the Ottoman occupation, today's Tuzla was called Soli.
Ljepunice is located in the hills a good 6 km northwest of the city center of Tuzla, on the M18 trunk road (Orašje - Sarajevo).
The place Ljepunice itself is a little off the highway. There is a small reservoir right next to the village.
The localities of Brgule , Pogorioci and Milešići to the west of the M18 also belong to the Ljepunice branch .
To the east lies Šikara , which belongs to Lipnica .
Population and culture
The local association has around 2,400 inhabitants in around 750 houses, of which almost 400 are in the village itself.
This area around Tuzla is mostly Croatian . Ljepunice also belongs to the Catholic parish of Šikara. In Ljepunice there is a chapel in the Roman Catholic cemetery . The chapel has the status of a cultural monument.
