Lyudmila Gurjewa lives in Almaty and started for TSSK. The sports teacher began biathlon in 1993. In Bad Gastein she made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup in 1994 and finished 67th in a sprint race. The highlight of the first season was the Biathlon World Championships 1995 in Antholz , where she was 40th in the sprint and 13th in the relay race with Galina Avtajewa , Margarita Dulowa and Jelena Muraschko . Two years later, she participated in the 1997 World Championships in Osrblie . With 62nd place in the individual and 68th in the sprint, she could not achieve any noteworthy results in the team race, just like with 12th place alongside Inna Scheschkil , Jelena Dubok and Dulowa. The best result was a sixth place with the relay, which Gurjewa achieved with the same competitors as in the team race. In Östersund , early in the 1997/98 season , she was able to win World Cup points for the first time as the 20th in a sprint race. It was also Gurjewa's best individual result in the World Cup. The high point of the season was the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . At the competitions of Nozawa Onsen , the Kazakh came in 23rd place in the individual and was with Scheschkil, Dulowa and Dubok eleventh in the relay race. The following year, the Winter Asian Games in Gangwon-do became the season highlight for the Kazakh people. With Avtajewa, Dulowa and Dubok, she won the relay race ahead of the favored Chinese women. After that, it took two years for Gurjewa to appear again in Pokljuka , and now for the last time at a major international event. In the individual she finished 29th, was 46th in the sprint and 50th in the pursuit. After the 2001/02 season , she ended her career.
