The Lochmann Filmtheaterbetriebe are a company by Heinz Lochmann (* 1959) from the Württemberg Baden- Rudersberg , the nine cinemas operates.

At the age of 14, Lochmann began an apprenticeship as a baker in his parents' business , and at the age of 23 he completed his master craftsman examination. After the death of his aunt in 1974, he took care of the Rudersberg Löwenlichtspiele, which she built in 1956, in his spare time and finally full-time . From 1995 he took over several cinemas in the region that were threatened with closure, namely in Backnang , Schorndorf , Waiblingen , Esslingen am Neckar , Biberach an der Riss and Nürtingen . He extensively renovated it and continued to run it under the name Dream Palace . The halls have names and have a special motto, e.g. B. "1001 Nights". The Turm Theater in Schwäbisch Gmünd has been part of the group since 2018 .

Passage cinema in Hamburg

In Hamburg in 2007, Lochmann “saved” the traditional Passage Kino on Mönckebergstrasse , which is furnished in Art Deco style . In 2012 he and his company Flott GmbH became the owner of the Kant cinema in Berlin-Charlottenburg , which is operated by the Yorck cinema group . In Hanover , Lochmann, together with Hans-Joachim Flebbe, the former director of Cinemaxx AG , converted a former multiplex cinema in Nikolaistraße into the Astor Grand Cinema by 2014 , which calls itself Germany’s largest “premium cinema ”.

In Leonberg , in the industrial area at the motorway triangle , he built a completely new cinema for the first time, which opened in July 2016 with ten halls and 1200 seats. All halls are equipped with 3-D technology and Dolby Atmos , some also with movable D-Box motion seats. There are also two restaurants in the building. An extension with an IMAX cinema with 500 seats and the largest screen in the world (38 × 22 meters) as well as a bowling facility and another restaurant will be built by 2020 . Heinz Lochmann's son Marius Lochmann is the cinema manager.

Following the closure of cinemas in Germany because of COVID-19 pandemic , Lochmann operates a since May 8 drive- in Schorndorf .

Heinz Lochmann is also a partner in the small film distributor Drei-Freund .
