Lockwisch is a district of the town of Schönberg in the west of the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). Schönberg is located east of the city of Lübeck and belongs to the Hamburg metropolitan region .

Lockwisch is located in a gently undulating area between the Wakenitz and Maurine rivers , between Lüdersdorf and Schönberg, ten kilometers east of Lübeck.
The districts of Dorf Lockwisch, Hof Lockwisch and Petersberg belonged to the former municipality of Lockwisch.
history
In 1194, the name Locwisc (place in the swamp) for Lockwisch appeared for the first time in a document, namely the Isfried partition contract . Petersberg was also mentioned in a document there for the first time. Lockwisch farm is located on the southern edge of a terminal moraine that towers over the Maurinetal by about 50 meters, here are the remains of an old Wendish castle , which was protected by moats and moor. According to the excavation findings, it was used from the 8th to the 10th century.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Hof Lockwisch (also Lockwisch, Hof) was incorporated.
On January 1, 2019, the Lockwisch community was incorporated into the city of Schönberg. The community Lockwisch was administered by the office of Schönberger Land with its seat in the city of Schönberg.

Transport links
The federal highway 20 leads south past Lockwisch, the junction Lüdersdorf is five kilometers away. The connecting road from Schönberg to Lübeck runs through Lockwisch. The nearest train stations are in Lüdersdorf and Schönberg on the Lübeck – Bad Kleinen railway line . The village of Lockwisch lies north of this railway line, over which a bridge runs from Hof Lockwisch.
