The railway line Ostrava-Svinov-Klimkovice was last operated as an overland tram in the Czech Republic , which was originally built as a local railway Schönbrunn-Witkowitz-Königsberg by the city of Klimkovice ( Königsberg in Silesia ). It ran from today's Ostrava-Svinov train station (formerly Svinov - Vítkovice / Schönbrunn-Witkowitz) to Klimkovice.
history
The railway line was owned by the municipality of Klimkovice, which had the construction of the line carried out on its own account by the construction company Ing. Samohrd. It was opened on December 8, 1912. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) for the account of the owner. After the First World War , the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) took their place .
The 1913 timetable recorded a total of six mixed pairs of trains that took around 25 to 30 minutes for the entire route. In that year a total of 222,448 passengers were counted. During the entire operating time, passenger traffic dominated, freight traffic was of secondary importance.
In 1926 the town of Klimkovice sold the line for 2.5 million crowns to the Společnost moravských místních drah (SMMD; German: Moravian Local Railway Company ). The SMMD electrified the route and converted it for tram operation . On May 16, 1926, trams began operating at 40-minute intervals. This ended the classic railway operation on the local railway.
From October 1, 1938, as a result of the annexation of the Sudetenland to Germany , the route was entirely on German territory. In the German course book, the route was initially included as KBS 129 w, from the October 6, 1940 edition as KBS 151 r Schönbrunn (Oder) –Königsberg (Oder) . In the imperial course book, the route was printed in the first section under 102 "Schönbrunn (Oder) -Königsberg (East Sudetenland)". The 1944 timetable recorded a total of 23 journeys. The journey time was 22 minutes in both directions.
From 1949, the SMMD operated as Dopravní podniky města Ostravy (Ostrava City Transport Company). This gave up the operation of the tram in 1977 in favor of a bus line. Today the route is dismantled.
Vehicle use
On behalf of the local railway, the KNFB procured two triple-coupled tank locomotives from the StEG locomotive factory in Vienna, with which operations were carried out until electrification in 1926. The kkStB later gave the two locomotives the numbers 493.01 and 493.02 . At ČSD, they were given the new numbers 300.301 and 300.302 in 1925.
