The locomotive Feldbahn Ozydow-Monasztyrek was during the First World War by the Austro-Hungarian land forces moved and operated military field railway with 700 mm gauge in today's Ukrainian Oblast Lviv .
history
The light railroad served the Austro-Hungarian army primarily for the transport of guns , supplies , ammunition and soldiers to the front and in the opposite direction to transport the wounded and sick.
When Eduard von Böhm-Ermolli's troops pursued the Russian units on their retreat from Galicia, they held a continuous position on the heights east of Ożydów and Złoczów from August 29, 1915. As a result, the Austro-Hungarian armed forces moved the field railway parallel to the resulting front line in order to supply their positions on the eastern front with supplies and ammunition. It was operated until the Kerensky Offensive and the Battle of Zborów on July 1 and 2, 1917.
On July 21, 1917, under the command of Field Marshal Prince Leopold of Bavaria, the German-Austrian counterattack successfully advanced over a width of 40 km on both sides of the Lemberg-Tarnopol railway. On the evening of July 21, 1917, the German-Austrian troops stood before Tarnopol .
