The Lomme in Forrières

The Lomme (also Lhomme or L'Homme ) is an approximately 46 km long Ardennes river in southeastern Belgium .

It rises near the village of Bras in the north of the municipality of Libramont-Chevigny in the Belgian province of Luxembourg , flows through Smuid , Mirwart , Grupont , Lesterny , Forrières , Jemelle and Rochefort and finally flows into the lower section of the Lesse , 2 km after it emerges from the Grotto de Han . The Lesse, a tributary of the Meuse , is less long and abundant in water than it above the confluence with the Lomme.

Apart from the top and bottom sections of the river, the Lomme flows from south to north. The Namur – Luxembourg railway line runs through its valley for 24 km. Large parts of this wooded valley are free from traffic. Due to its abundance of fish, the Lomme is a popular destination for anglers.
