Long Beach is a place in the southwest of the US state Washington . It is located on the Long Beach Peninsula in Pacific County . The city was officially founded on January 18, 1922. At the 2000 census it had 1283 inhabitants in 660 households.
Between 1889 and 1930, a narrow-gauge railway operated by the Ilwaco Railway and Navigation Company ran on the entire Long Beach Peninsula . Over time, more and more people settled there and hotels and other shops were built, especially near the train station. Today the city is attractive to tourists with facilities such as souvenir shops, boutiques , museums and other accommodation options .
Additionally, Long Beach is seen as the home of Jake the Alligator Man , who is said to have been half-human and half-alligator. This is on display in Marsh's Free Museum and can be viewed.
